The legality of the blackjack games offered in Seminole casinos in Florida has long held a tensely equivocal position. The compact signed with Governor Charlie Crist was considered illegal by the Supreme Court, but despite the disapproval of legislature, the Seminole tribe continued to offer blackjack games because the US Department of the Interior had already given its approval.
The Federal Government and the governor have finally come to a new agreement with the Seminole tribe concerning their blackjack tables. The tribe may now legally offer blackjack games, while the agreement guarantees the state $1 billion (~R7.7 billion) in income.
