Darryl Purpose is a songwriter, musician and performer, as well as an anti-war activist, but back in the 80s he was a member of a number of incarnations of Ken Uston‘s blackjack team and reputed to be the fastest card counter in Vegas and Atlantic City. Purpose, a self-taught advantage player with an affinity form math, has raked in large amounts of money on teams and well as when playing on his own. He has played in casinos world-wide, getting into various scrapes with the Russian Mafia, Caribbean casino bosses, and the Yakuza. “I didn’t really consider it was that dangerous,” he explains, adding that his experiences do make good stories.
