Blackjack Blueprint
Planning a trip to a casino in the near future? Bring Blaine’s Blueprint! This fairly recent text covers a wide range of subjects in a surprisingly efficient and effective way in just over 350 pages. Everything from basic strategy to the most advanced topics such as team play and transport of large amounts of cash is discussed in this guide to blackjack. This accessible yet meticulous book is written for the part-time player by a part time player, but also contains a lot of interesting information for experts.
Rick “Night Train” Blaine has a career as an executive in the finance sector, but he is also extremely well-versed in using blackjack as a money-making hobby on the side, and writes on the topic like a professional. The book works like a manual, using summaries and quizzes to make sure the reader is familiar enough with the material covered in the preceding pages to move on to the more complex topics. In this way the book quickly but comprehensively works its way up from basic strategy for the individual beginning blackjack player to discussing information that is of interest to professionals. Especially Blaine’s sections on team play, casino security, casino hierarchy, and camouflage and transport are of great interest.
The book is also well-written and humorous, although Blaine never sugar-coats anything. His discussion of team play is all the more interesting because he chooses to discuss team failures, analyzing these for valuable lessons. Blaine is an expert companion, and if you’d be able to buy only one blackjack book in your life we’d whole-heartedly recommend this one.
