Girl Scout Leader Steals Cookie Money to Play Blackjack

In Minnesota, America, girl scout leader Joleen Hopkins made away with more than $8.000 (R60.000) in girl scout cookie money to play blackjack. Hopkins and her husband volunteered to act as treasurers for the girl scout cookie fund, but frequently wrote out checks from the account to which they have had access since 2005 to pay for restaurants, sports gear, car parts, petrol, groceries… and a large portion of the cookie money was taken straight to the blackjack table. Charged with six counts of theft, of which three are felony charges, she faces up to five years in prison as well as a $10.000 fine, so lets hope for Mrs Hopkins’ sake that she was at least a decent blackjack player.

I read the title and I thought some little kid had tried to play blackjack with the cookie money. That would have been even better.
