This movie attracted lots of attention and got quite some people interested in card counting. The movie tells the amazing story of the MIT Blackjackteam, who beat the dealer over and over again. These students mastered their card counting systems through practice and made millions. The movie really brings the story to life.

If you've seen the movie 21, card counting will seem the coolest thing ever, and the infamous MIT Team the heroes of this advanced blackjack strategy. However, the UK now has its own card counting team which may blow this team's success rate out of the water.

Florida racinos (racing tracks & casinos) seem to have made some headway regarding blackjack. With the restrictions on competing casinos offering table games in the state, the Seminole Tribe of Florida enjoys considerable exclusivity as far as blackjack is concerned. However, competing casinos have now received state approval to offer a virtual blackjack game.

Whereas casino security may not be able to recognize an experienced card counter, a new computer program just might. Kris Zutis, a final year student at the University of Dundee, has developed a computer program that can identify dealer errors and card counters.

Although George Clooney seems to have it all (good looks, money, a successful acting career and success with the ladies), he does seem to have one flaw: the man can't gamble. One of his best friends, Matt Damon, claims the following: "George is a loser. We were in Vegas and he was like, 'I have never won anything in my life gambling.'"

Sammy Farha, generally know for his poker playing skills, has won a 5.5 million Rand ($750.000) blackjack tournament in the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. The tournament was a so-called freeroll: no buy in was necessary. It's a way for the casino's to show their appreciation to the High-rollers that frequently visit the casinos.
